FAQ for Grad gown shopping

School just started, is it too soon to start looking for my grad gown?

No, it's never too soon as it can take up to 4 months to order a gown. With prom nights scheduled as early as April you may not have as much time as you may think! Delaying your gown shopping may cause you stress as color/size availability for your selected gown may become limited if we are within 4 months from your graduation date. We have new styles arriving daily. Watch for our November Grad Trunk Show weekend!

I feel a little bit intimidated as I have no idea what I'm looking for!

No don't be! Shopping for your grad gown should be a fun experience! Our consultants are trained to assist you in finding a gown that will look amazing on you.

I want to order a brand new gown. Do you charge an ordering fee to order a new gown?

Some stores will charge you an ordering fee if you decide not to buy a gown off the rack and want a brand new gown ordered. Crystals Bridal does not charge an ordering fee for gowns and we do not inflate our prices to hide an ordering fee. We do however charge a fee for rush orders if they are available for the gown.

I'm shopping online and see websites offering grad gowns that are cheaper than local store prices. Isn't it safe to buy online?

When comparing the total cost of buying online to a local store the prices are very comparable if not more expensive online. There is potentially much more risk/stress that can result from online shopping.

Our prom gowns are from authentic designers. Websites claiming they offer certain brandnames may be selling unauthorized replicas of the dress. These 'knock offs' are usually made with lower quality materials, have a poorer fit, and the detailing will not be the same as the authentic gown.

Online stores require payment in full before they ship you the dress to you. If anything happens to the gown once it's been shipped it's at the online store's discretion to assist you if something wrong should occur. Keep in mind they already have payment from you and prom happens once a lifetime and they know this. They don't get repeat business from you unlike other types of online stores. As a Bridal store we would love for you to come back if you're engaged in the future! We want to make sure you are satisfied with the gown before you leave the store with the gown.

Consumers need to be aware that when ordering a gown online that there are shipping, brokerage, customs/duty fees that are not charged by the online store. A majority of gowns are made in China. Any gown produced from China regardless if the gown is ordered/shipped from the US will incur a 18% Duty fee once it crosses the border. There charges will be calculated and charged to you by Canada Customs or the shipping brokerage company. Refusal to pay the duty could result in seizure of the gown by customs. The online store may be unable to assist you and they probably will not give you a refund if that occurs as they usually indicate on their 'small print' that the customer is responsible for any customs/duty charges. Any attempt by an online company to deceive customs by altering the value could again result in seizure by Canada Customs. Canada Customs are aware of various online companies and what their business is. Please be wary! As well Canada Customs does their best not to damage any shipped items but there is always a chance that a product could be damaged if and when they are inspected. Please be wary where online stores charge a flat rate 'landing cost' where the amount is much lower than the calculated 18% duty fee.

Once receiving the online gown if there are any issues with it whether it be sizing issues, manufacturer defect, or wrong style/color shipped it is at the online store's discretion to allow you to return the item. Unfortunately you will be responsible for the return shipping/insurance costs to the online store. As well there could be a restocking fee charged by the online store.
